Appealing

Appeal is the procedure in which a court case is reassessed in its entirety by a higher court. Appeal is possible against the majority of the judgments, provided that the financial interest exceeds €1,750. If this is not the case, the judgment in first instance is final.

The period for bringing an appeal is three months. This period has been shortened to four weeks for judgments in summary proceedings. The appeal in civil cases is dealt with by the Court of Appeal. A judgment on appeal is called a ruling. When bringing an appeal, engaging a lawyer is always a requirement.
