Instrument of assignment

Assignment is the transfer of a registered claim. A creditor may transfer a claim against a debtor to a third party. Then this third party would take the place of the original creditor. The assignment must be in writing (by deed) and notice of the assignment must be given to the debtor. This is different from an undisclosed assignment.

The creditor selling the claim is called the assignor and the acquirer of the claim is called the assignee.
